• Traffic laws:Must obey all traffic lights, signals, and signs and travel in the same direction as traffic.
• Road and path use:Allowed on bike lanes, roads, and paths, but not on interstate highways, four-lane highways with a median, or highways with a speed limit over 50 mph. Must yield to pedestrians on bike paths.
• Sidewalks:Generally not allowed on sidewalks.
• Rights and duties:Have the same rights and responsibilities as traditional bicycle riders.

• Class 1 and 2 e-bikes:
  • Speed:Maximum assisted speed of 20 mph.
  • Power:750 watts or less.
  • License/Registration:No license or registration is required.
  • Helmet:Required for riders under 17 years old.

• Class 3 e-bikes:
  • Speed:Maximum assisted speed of 28 mph.
  • Power:750 watts or less.
  • License/Registration:A driver's license is required, and the e-bike must be registered and insured.
  • Helmet:Required for all ages.
